Summer Camp

Roller skates and first dates, scraped knees and blooming trees
Soccer games and Band-Aids, blowing bubbles and tennis doubles
Sun screen and jelly beans, Barbecues and ice cream scoops
Lemonade and roller blades, basketball rims and blue skies
No school and swimming pools, rainbows and painted toes
Swimsuits and swallow swoops, singing songs and dancing noons

With this jovial mood, the summer camp or ‘Summer scape’ as it is popularly known as, was flagged of from 12th of May and the frenzy continued till 23rd of May, ‘08. It was an absolute learning experience for the students albeit in a playful manner. No, not the regular classroom teaching but lessons in singing, dancing, art, yoga, aerobics and of course, personality development. Apart from playing their fave games, they learnt new tricks of converting utter wastes into decorative pieces, like (believe it or not) mango kernels (well, our students are…… simply genius, thank you). Personality Development classes assured our students that they would come out as better-mannered pupils after the course (and they did!). Yoga and aerobics infused a new level of fitness in them. But this one takes the icing of the cake – the rain dance. Rain poured down, and our students had a blast with good music (impromptu, I tell you!!)

As the summer sun sets one last time, in a now autumn sky,
And summer days reach their end, we can’t wait for them to start again.
